i
I have been a fitness instructor for the past 20 years, this followed on from doing some

Disco dancing in my youth!!!!!.  I have always loved to dance and tried to put a lot of this into my aerobics classes.

Bio:

Around 11 years ago, I came across Line Dancing, and managed to pick it up very quickly,

Hey! I thought, this is great, I really enjoyed it……..and 9 years ago opened my own classes

here in Formby, the response was phenomenal…….and here I am - 9 years later, still dancing my socks off, with the most wonderful crowd of dancers ever, still having fun, still learning new dances, and I also run an Absolute Beginners class, which I get a lot of enjoyment from, as they learn the basics and progress from that first night they came, not being able to do anything………..its brilliant, and to see their smiling faces as they master another new combination is sooooo very rewarding.

I have written quite a few dances myself, and had a fair measure of success with a few of them!!!! As I had been choreographing aerobic routines to music for 11 years, I found it quite easy to choreograph a Line dance, must be some natural talent that I have (no others mind you! lol.) – cause the Music always tells me what to do!!!(VBG) and wot I do seems to work!

The first hit for me was American Pie……..and I took a lot of flack for that one, a lot of people said it was “Techno”, and they wouldn`t play it….but it became a big hit, and was Nominated for dance of the Year in 1997, and by todays standards, the music is MILD!!!!

Then there was Streamlinin`, to Southern Streamline by John Fogerty, this was a floor filler in so many places, and I'm delighted to say it is still danced today. Again Nominated for Dance of the year.

Along came Ready Steady, to I Get so Rattled by Jill Morris, a luvly lady with a fine voice.

The BIG one then came with Whisperin`, to Dwight Yoakam`s Cattle Call, boy – did that take the dancefloors by storm, some couldn`t believe their ears when they heard that song….but Richard and I loved it…..and it was a Huge hit for us. Nominated dance of the year.

Louisianna Lou to Linda Lou by the Tractors was a big hit for me.
1999 by Sean Kenny, I had to talk Sean into recording this for me, took him ages cos I wrote the dance in March 1998…………..

Tropical Breeze followed next to Straight Tequila by Trini Triggs.

Tracks 2-10-S-E, to the song of the same name by Paul Rutter.

Crazy Little Thing again by Dwight Yoakam, I had massive hit with this one………

Mardi-Gras Mambo to Mambo No 5 by Lou Bega – another massive hit for me……..

(both nominated for Dance of the Year)

Never Say Never to The Best is Yet to come by Scooch….had a fair measure of success.

Bailando 64 and 32, what a fabulous track of music.

All the while I had been putting out a few dances to country music, but they just didn`t seem to do very much, as the scene was changing to more `Pop` style music.

I co-wrote Jamaica Mistaka with Peter Metelnick, and this was a huge hit all over the World

also nominated for Dance of The Year.

Togoneo Cha an off-beat Cha-Cha followed with some success, and Asian Heart did very well too.

On my return from USA in 2000, I choreographed Sweet Surrender, to Can`t fight the Moonlight by LeAnn Rimes, and had a huge success with this one. Again Nominated for Dance of the Year.

I had a fair success with So Freaky to Freaky by First Love.

Jessico to Jessico by the Kentucky Headhunters.

Then came another biggie…..

Hot Summer Fun to Baila Baila by Liz Abella, what a fantastic dance track,

Now I'm not a great lover of girl singers, as you will have noticed from my list of artistes….. but Liz` voice really appealed to me……..she is fantastic..and only 22 years of age!!!! This dance was huge for me in this year…..and reached number 2 in the Linedancer Mag. Charts, beaten only by Mony Mony!!!

Out came Dancers Den, to the track of the same name by Jody Jenkins, a brilliant country track to a song by a guy with a great voice……….and is still danced today.

Asian Heart was also a big hit for me and nominated for Dance of The Year.

Another Liz Abella track fell in my lap……..this time Rhumba/Cha Cha style…….and what a fabulous song A Place in My Heart is. I created (wot I think) is a very classy dance, that is actually not hard, but very Different…

lots of step-holds, and that can take a while to come to terms with, as people were not used to doing these type of steps, , I really did hope that it would become a floor filler, as the music is just
soooooo……..well……..brilliant, and makes me want to dance with style………..and others to. I had a reasonable amount of success with Abelarumba.

Then came along the fabulous Shakira, and I had a number one hit with my dance Whenever……….I was sooo very pleased with what I had written. Also nominated for Dance of the Year.

I had another hit dance with the Liz Abella song Ritmo De La Vida a beautiful song for my dance Rhythm of Life. Nominated for Dance of the Year

Gotta Go (Mexico) did very well to the fabulous track by Johnny Ferriera.

Are You Ready to the Elton John track was enjoyed by many, but didn’t become the hit I thought it might.

My Dance to the Chris Rea track Let’s Dance, has been a big hit for me during 2004.

And my latest dance is to another oldie, Baby Jane sung by Rod Stewart, this is slowly being taught around the country, so here’s hoping…..cause it’s a great track of music and I think a great dance to go with it.

Linedancer Mag.Awards:

I have been nominated in various categories, incl. Choreographer of the Year, Personality, Instructor for the past 7 years, and was absolutely thrilled to receive the Title of Choreographer of the Year for 1999…………and of course all the nominations for the dances gave me such a thrill……..its amazing what comes out of my kitchen, not much Food – just dances!!!!

I love to create dances, and always try to do something a little different from the way others

Would do……….and sometimes it works of course and sometimes – not so!

But I do try to create a `good` dance, not just one that is churned out to the latest pop hit…..

Which of course there will be many others to, and I try to be selective in my music.

Here`s to a great 2005 on the dancefloor, and lets see if we can have some great dances written to some brilliant good music.

By the way, I have been married to Richard for 31 years, have one daughter Kim, and we have lived in Formby for 31 years also, I come from Ainsdale (Southport) and Richard came from Crosby (North Liverpool) so when we married we moved to Formby, which is in between the 2 places.(we didn`t move very far)
